The U3A is a registered charity for the retired and semi-retired in Berwick and the surrounding areas. 'U3A' stands for University of the Third Age. We learn through sharing and exchanging skills and interests in small friendly groups, and most importantly, we have a lot of fun and laughter doing so. Currently, we have over 50 different activity groups. Don't worry about the word 'university' in our name. There are no exams, certificates, diplomas or degrees involved!

Berwick U3A operates under the umbrella of The Third Age Trust (a national registered charity), which offers advice, support and information to individual U3As nationwide to help their organisations run smoothly. There are over 400,000 members nationally in over 1000 towns, cities and villages. All U3As are run completely independently by their members, for their members and have their own range of interest groups offering many topics and activities.
Here at Berwick U3A we fill our days (and some evenings) with taking part in group activities. We also hold monthly Open Meetings at St Aidan's Hall between September and June each year with an invited speaker.

A number of our groups meet at St Aidan's Hall. Our Line Dancers meet every Monday afternoon, the  Backgammon Group meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday afternoons of each month, on a Friday morning from September to March we have a Tap Dance Group, on a Thursday we have Tai Chi, the Art Appreciation Group, the Gardening Group and Exploring History and Places Group also meet once a month at the hall.
Visitors are welcome to come along to our Open Meetings to see what it's all about and see if it's for you. You can find out more about us from our website www.u3asites.org.uk/berwick.

Berwick U3A is in a network with Alnwick, Coquetdale and Wooler U3A's to share groups, activities and outings. Please see our website for further details www.u3asites.org.uk/berwick.
